Abstract

A device comprising, in combination, a traditional bucket 1 and a frame 5 which can be inserted on the upper part of said bucket 1 and having two parallel undriven rollers 7, 8, the roller 8 being connected to foot control lever 17 operable so as to move the roller 8 close to the roller 7, so as to wring a floor cloth as it is pulled upwards between the rollers 7, 8. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Wringer for floor cloths and the like The present invention relates to a wringer for floor cloths and the like.
The object of the present invention is to provide a wringer for floor cloths which is suited to be used for quick, efficacious and hygienical cleaning without touching them. With this object in view, there is provided, in accordance with the invention, a device comprising, in combination, a traditional bucket and a frame which can be inserted on the upper part of said bucket, having a couple of parallel rollers, idle on their shafts and, connected to the foot control means suited to draw the above mentioned rollers near, so as to wring a floor cloth caused to pass therethrough.
One of said rollers is rotatably mounted on a shaft solid with said frame, while the other one is beared by a shaft whose ends are fixed to a fork linked to said foot control means through a trace system.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings which shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
limiting sense.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a cross sectional view of the device in unoperative conditions; Figure 2 is an analogous view showing the device of Fig. 1 in operative conditions; Figure 3 is an exploded view showing the detaching of the whole device from the bucket; Figure 4 is a perspective view of a kind of floor cloth suited to be used with the device according to the invention; Figure 5 shows a clamping unit for the Fig. 4 floor cloth.
Referring to Fig. 1, 2 and 3, a traditional substantially frustum bucket indicated as 1, is illustrated and provided with handle 2 and a clamping unit 3 at its base. A vertical rod 4, fastened at its upper end to the circular frame 5, inserted in the shoulder 6 of bucket 1, as shown in Fig. 3, is inserted in the clamping unit 3. The quick and easy assembly of the mechanical part on the bucket is a very important feature in so that allows a handy cleaning of the two parts.
Roller7 is idle on frame 5 while roller 8, parallel to the previous one, is mounted on the shaft 9 whose ends are driven in the slits 10 and inserted in fork 11, linked in 12 to cranked lever 13. This lever has end 14 linked to vertical rod 4 and its apex 15 hinged to leg 16 ending with a foot control lever 17. Leg 16 is connected with vertical rod 4 by means of arm 18 hinged in 19 and 20. A spring 21 is anchored to pin 20 and in 22 to vertical rod 4.
The operation is obvious: in unoperative conditions (Fig. 1), the two rollers 7 and 8 are spaced out.
The floor cloth has to be inserted between said rol lers, and rinsed as usual. When the floor cloth 23 (Fig. 2) has to be drawn out, foot control lever 17 has to be pressed against the spring 21 (Fig. 2) and the floor cloth is pulled up, being the rollers the wringing means. In orderto grant steadiness to bucket 1, while foot control lever 17 is pressed down, there is provided an adjustable footrest 24 (Fig. 3), where the necessary opposed action has to be exerted. As it appears from Fig. 2, in the operative conditions, the two rollers 7 and 8 are substantially one upon the other in order to obtain a betterwrinking on the floor cloth.
Figure 4 and 5 show a floor cloth suitable to the use with the device according to the invention, considering that this device can be used also with floor cloth of the kind already on sale. It comprises a clamping unit 25 bore by support 26 on which handle 27 is inserted. Floor cloth 23 is gripped by clamp 28 with wing nuts 29.
The present invention has been described in a preferred embodiment, but it is intended that variations and modifications could be adopted without departing from the scope thereof.
1. A wringer for floor cloths and the like, characterized by comprising in combination a container or bucket of traditional kind and a frame which can be inserted on the upper part of said bucket, having a couple of parallel rollers, idle on their shafts and connected with foot control means suited to draw the above mentioned rollers near so as to wring a floor cloth caused to pass therethrough.
2. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that one of said roller is rotatably mounted on a shaft solid with said frame, while the other one is bore by a shaft whose ends are fixed on a fork connected with said foot control lever by means of a trace system.
3. A device according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said frame is bore by a vertical rod having an end inserted in a clamping unit at the base of the container.
4. A device according to claims from 1 to 3, characterized in that said trace system comprises cranked lever which links the roller-bearing fork with the vertical rod, a leg with foot control lever, and an arm hinged at both ends which links said leg to the vertical rod.
5. A device according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that said trace system is provided with a return spring acting on the two rollers when apart, and anchored at its ends to the leg with foot control lever and vertical rod.
6. A device according to claims from 1 to 5, characterized in that at the base of the container there is an opposing adjustable footrest suited to keep the container steady when the foot control lever is pressed down.
7. A wringer for floor cloths and the like accord ing to claims from 1 to 6, substantially as herein before described and illustrated.
