Abstract

A lamp bracket for a bicycle comprises a screw clamp 10 adapted to be releasably secured about a tubular frame member 18 of the bicycle and a lamp supporting portion 11 secured to the screw clamp through an angular adjustable connection 12 including two discs 20, 21 with radial face formations which interfit in any one of a multiplicity of relative positions of rotation. One of the discs 20 is fixed with respect to the screw clamp 10 and the other disc 21 is fixed relative to the lamp supporting portion 11, and the two discs are releasably held together by a bolt and nut. The outer faces of the discs have diametral slots to receive one end of the clamp strip 13 and a portion 24 of the lamp supporting portion 11 respectively. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in or Relating to Lamp Brackets for Bicycles This invention relates to lamp brackets for bicycles.
According to this invention there is provided a lamp bracket comprising a screw clamp portion adapted to be placed about a tubular frame member and tightened thereon, a lamp supporting portion and an angularly adjustable connection interconnecting the two portions and enabling the lamp supporting portion to be angularly adjusted with respect to the clamp portion which connection includes a pair of disc members disposed coaxially face to face and each having formations which interfit with those on the other disc member in any one of a multiplicity of relative rotational positions of the members to locate the members against relative rotation about their common axis, the two disc members being respectively located against rotation about said common axis relative to the clamp and lamp supporting portions, and releasable screw means disposed on said axis and arranged to hold the disc members and the clamp and lamp supporting portions together.
Preferably the formations comprise radiallyextending ribs on abutting surfaces of the disc members.
According to a preferred feature of the invention, the two disc members are moulded from a plastics material. Each of said portions may conveniently be located against rotation relative to the associated disc member about said common axis by having a part thereof engaged in diametral slot in the disc member, e.g. in the face of the disc remote from the other member.
One embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bicycle lamp bracket according to the invention, and Figure 2 is a sectional elevation on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings, the bracket comprises a clamp portion 10 and a lamp support portion 11 interconnected by an adjustable connection 1 2. The clamp portion is formed from two strips 1 3, 14 which are deformed away from each other intermediate their ends to enable them to be placed about a tubular member 18 of the frame of a bicycle. Threaded bolts 15, 1 6 extend through holes in the ends of the strips and carry nuts 1 9. One end of strip 13 is accommodated in a diametral slot in one face of a disc 20 which is moulded from a plastics material.Disc 20 abuts axially against an identical disc 21, the abutting faces of the discs being formed with a ring of serrations 22 which interfit to prevent relative rotation of the discs when they are pressed together but to enable the discs to be fitted together in any one of a multiplicity of relative angular positions. The diametral slot in the opposite face of the second disc accommodates a part 24 of the lamp supporting portion, and the bolt 1 6 extends through part 24, the two discs and the adjacent ends of strips 13, 14. Thus the angle of the upstanding part 25 which is engaged by the lamp in the well-known way can be adjusted and is set at the same time as the clamp portion is tightened about the frame tube 1 8.
Claims
1. A lamp bracket comprising a screw clamp portion adapted to be placed about a tubular frame member and tightened thereon, a lamp supporting' portion and an angularly adjustable connection interconnecting the two portions and enabling the lamp supporting portion to be angularly adjusted with respect to the clamp portion which connection includes a pair of disc members disposed coaxially face to face and each having formations which interfit with those on the other disc member in any one of a multiplicity of relative rotational positions of the members to locate the members against relative rotation about their common axis, the two disc members being respectively located against rotation about said common axis relative to the clamp and lamp supporting portions, and releasable screw means disposed on said axis and arranged to hold the disc members and the clamp and lamp supporting portions together.
2. A lamp bracket as claimed in claim 1, wherein said formations comprise radiallyextending ribs on abutting surfaces of the disc members.
3. A lamp bracket as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein each of said portions is Icated against rotation relative to the associated disc member about said common axis by having a part thereof engaged in a diametral slot in the disc member.
4. A lamp bracket as claimed in claim 3, wherein the diametral slot in each disc member is in the face of the disc remote from the other member.
5. A lamp bracket substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the drawings accompanying the specification.
