Abstract
A bag-filling machine for filling particulate, granular or powdery stock into flatly stacked bags (2) comprises suction grippers movable along an endless path to carry the bags from a magazine (1) through a printing station (8) and a checking station (22) to a filling station (9), where the bags (2) are opened by suckers (25) and filled. Thereafter, they pass on a conveyor 14 through a folding equipment to a sewing station. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A Bag-Filling Machine
The present invention relates to a bag-filling machine for filling particulate and/or powdery stock into flatly stacked bags by means of movable suction grippers which move on a circulating path.
Bag-filling machines are already known in which the stock is filled into bags with lateral folds or with blocked bottoms. Machines of that kind are frequently expensive to manufacture and complicated so that faults frequently arise.
According to the present invention there is provided a bag-filling machine comprising a magazine for empty bags, suction grippers movable by first transport means, a printing station, a checking station, a filling station, further suction grippers to open the bags, means to guide filling material to the opened bags at the filling station, second transport means, and folding means and a sewing station to close the filled bags, the suction grippers being arranged in use to carry the bags from the magazine through the printing station and the checking station to the filling station, and the second transport means being arranged in use to move bags from the filling station through the folding means to the sewing station.
An embodiment of the invention will now be more particularly described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows 3 longitudinal section through a bag-filling machine embodying the invention,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the machine shown in
Fig. 1 and
Fig. 3 is a section taken along the line I-I of
Fig. 2.
Referring now to the drawings, bags 20 are stocked in a magazine 1 , from which the bag lying lowermost is drawn off by suction grippers 2, which are fastened to a transport chain 23.
The paper bags 20 are conveyed by the transport chain 23 in the direction of the arrow 27 first to a printing station 8, in which appropriate imprints or characterisations are applied. From this, the bags move to a bag-checking station, in which the presence of a bag is ascertained by appropriate known devices.
Subsequently, the bags 20 get to a filling station 9, in which the bags are folded open by suckers 25. The suckers are located at the ends of cylinders 12 for pulling-open the bags, while the cylinders move along guide rods 13. The bags strike against guide strips 1 7 when fully opened so that they can be filled by means of a filling funnel 10 to feed the stock and a cylinder 11 which may be lowerable into the bag when sensitive or dusty stock is concerned.
The bags then stand on a transport and support belt 14, which is of adjustable height and which after filling leads them in the direction of arrow 28 to a sewing station 1 6. Further guide strips 1 7 maintain the bags in perpendicular attitude during transport along the transport belt 14. Before the sewing, the bags 20 are so folded at their upper ends in a folding equipment that the sewing process can subsequentiy be performed without complications.
The filling funnel 10 is tubular and lowerable. It is surrounded. by resilient material at its outlet opening in order to make possible a continuous filling-in without bridge formation.
Bag protection strips 1 9 and the guide strips 1 7 are provided in the corners or deflections in order to secure the bags 20 during transport while adhered to the suction grippers 2.
Checking equipment 21, which for example consists of a foam material roller, is provided underneath the magazine 1 in order that the withdrawal of several bags 20 from the magazine 1 is prevented.
The drive of the transport chain 23 takes place through a motor 4 by way of a gear 3. A vacuum pump 5 generates the necessary underpressure, which is conducted through a vacuum control equipment 6 by way of the hose ducts 24 to the individual suction grippers 2.
The above described machine enables paper sacks with weight units after filling of 10 to 25 kilograms to be brought automatically below the filling nozzle, be closed off after filling and be prepared for palleting, for which the presence of a filling nozzie and of a weighing device is presupposed.
Beyond that, the transport equipment shall be so matchable to the bags in its dimensions in both horizontal and vertical transport planes that a minimum overall size of the transport equipment and at the same time a high cycle rate of maximally 960 per hour for the packaging results.
