Abstract

202,715. Philippe, F. May 22, 1922. Clips and clamps, pivoted jaw.-A clip device for suspending towels, &c., comprises a backing 10 with a common pivot 19 for the upper ends of two spring-pressed jaw members 15 from which the jaws 26 are bent up in curved form and incline towards the gripping part 27. The jaw members are drawn together by a spring 21 and are cut away at 18 to bear on the common pivot 19 constituted by a washer on the pin 16, a washer 20 retaining them in position and having an extension 24 guarding the spring 21. Turned-down ears 23 on the jaw members limit their inward movement and centralize the jaws. A towel is inserted by gripping near the corner between thumb and second finger and forcing it between the jaws by the first finger which passes between the jaws and is arrested by a stop 14 formed at the bottom of the backing. The gripping part has co-operating projections and recesses or is roughened.
