Abstract
A fuel injection nozzle (1) is fastened by an elastomeric sleeve (2) in a bore (3) leading to an inlet duct of a cylinder head or an air suction conduit. The sleeve has an inwardly extending annular rib (6') and an outwardly extending annular rib (6'') which engage respectively an annular groove (7) in the nozzle (1) and a shallow annular groove (8) in the bore (3). The wall thickness of the sleeve (2) is less than the clearance between the nozzle (1) and the bore (3) so that space is available into which further inner annular ribs (9, 14) can spread on insertion of the nozzle (1) bearing the sleeve (2) into the bore (3). Rib 9 provides a seal at the leading end of the sleeve (2) in addition to that provided by the ribs (6, 6'') at the trailing end of the sleeve (2). Rib (14) is approximately opposite a step (12) on the radially outer surface of the sleeve and ensures due to the step (12), which is shaped to match a step (13) in the bore (3), that the sleeve (2) is not inserted too far into the bore (3). <IMAGE>
