Abstract

To render more effective the active constituent(s) of an insecticidal or fungicidal smoking or fumigation composition, by reducing the temperature at which said constituent will vaporise effectively to a favourable level to reduce the effect of decomposition of the agent at smoking or fumigating temperatures, use is made of an active constituent having a vapour pressure of less than 1 mm Hg at 20 DEG C in company with an organic compound whose boiling point exceeds 100 DEG C and whose vapor pressure is greater than that of the active constituent. Preferred, for the active constituent are pyrethrins, organic chlorine or phosphorus compounds or carbamates, for the organic compounds liquid paraffin, aromatic or halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols or esters, and for the carrier activated charcoal, clay, zeekite or terra alba.
