Abstract

Channel-shaped strips comprise a channel-shaped metal carrier (5), embedded in plastics or rubber covering material (6), consisting of a series of U-shaped strip-form elements (18) connected together by integral flexible connecting links which resist longitudinal shrinking of the carrier; in addition, at least one length of crinkled or corrugated wire (28) runs along the carrier (5) and is bonded to the carrier. The wire limits stretching of the strip without preventing flexing of the strip about its longitudinal axis. The strips may, for example, be used for finishing or sealing the flanges around openings in vehicle bodies or the like, or for supporting, sealing or guiding the edges of window glass. <IMAGE>
