Abstract

A reactor simulator comprises a reactor vessel 1, a heat exchange liquid jacket 2a around the vessel through which heat exchange liquid may be circulated and means 3 for adjusting the level X-X of heat exchange liquid in the heat exchange jacket,the heat exchange area and hence the heating/cooling capacity of the reactor varying accordingly to enable the ratio of heat/cooling capacity of a large scale reactor to the corresponding reactor volume to be accurately simulated in a small scale reactor. <IMAGE>
