Abstract

An isothermal calorimetric system for determining heats of reaction comprises a calorimeter 1 in the form of a chemical reactor 1a provided with a heat exchange jacket 1b for the circulation of a heat exchange liquid around the reactor via primary and secondary heat exchange circuits 2, 3 respectively, the primary heat exchange circuit providing for relatively slow circulation of heat exchange liquid through a heat compensator 4 to compensate the heat exchange liquid for any gain or loss in heat and the secondary heat exchange circuit providing for relatively rapid circulation of heat exchange liquid through the heat exchange jacket. <IMAGE>
