Abstract

A video tape recording system suitable for time lapse recording of a radar display 2 comprises a video tape recorder 5 capable of time lapse operation, a TV camera 1 having an output connected to the recorder and modified such that its electron beam is normally biassed off to enable storage of a video picture and a synchronising pulse generator (within recorder 5) connected to both the recorder and the camera (via a variable pulse processor 7) such that on receipt of a synchronising pulse the recorder is turned on and the electron beam of the camera is turned on for at least one picture field to read out the stored picture. The video stored on the TV camera tube is "read-off" by the first of the fields and recorded by the VTR 5. Any subsequent fields wipe the remaining stored video to a convenient level. <IMAGE>
