Abstract

A method of testing a rigid cellular member (17) (such as a honeycomb sandwich structure used for absorbing noise in gas turbines) in which a hologrammetric representation (19) of a surface (20) of the member is made, and the member is vibrationally excited over a predetermined range of frequencies while the hologram (19) is being formed. The apparatus shown includes a laser (10), beam splitter (13), mirrors (12, 14, 15), lenses (16, 18), and a transducer (28) powered by a unit (29). <IMAGE>
