Abstract

A waterproof coat is formed of a weldable material, such as a nylon textile fabric coated with polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride, and has sleeves joined to the body of the coat by lap-welded seams. The sleeves may each have a longitudinal under-arm seam which is also lap-welded. A method of making a waterproof coat is also disclosed, in which method sleeves are lap-welded to the body of the coat, preferably using a flat-bed welding machine. The body can be formed into a single workpiece before the sleeves are lap-welded to it. The coat is strong in construction and avoids the bulk and untidiness of pinch welded seams. <IMAGE>
