Abstract

A plenum chamber for a fluidised bed which is operable at temperatures in excess of 600 DEG C. The plenum chamber, for insertion in the base of a container of the fluidised bed, is formed of a hollow body, part of which is sealingly connected to the remainder of the hollow body and consists of a gas distributor device (8) which provides an exit for gas from the hollow body. <IMAGE>
