Abstract

Paper and cardboard are rendered hydrophobic by the addition of a wax dispersion and an aqueous solution of a polypiperidine halide as a fixing agent to the pulp from which the paper and cardboard are formed, the pulp having a pH which is either weakly acidic, neutral or alkaline.
