Abstract

A threaded member, such as a nut 26 or bolt 10, having an annular band of friction material 30 or 18, such as a resin, bonded to the threaded portion of the member intermediate the ends thereof, is produced by depositing a fluid mixture of a liquid carrier and powdered resin on an annular thread zone, eliminating the liquid carrier from the mix, and subsequently fusing the particles of the resin powder into a solid thereby fusion bonding the resin to the thread surfaces. External and internal thread application may be by means of nozzles (36) [Figure 4] and a thrower (56) [Figure 8] fed by a tube (54). <IMAGE>
