Abstract

A current-conducting roll for the transfer of heavy electric currents e.g. in electrolytic strip-finishing installations, comprises a roll body 1 and a conducting outer jacket 4 having its outer ends sealed, the space between the roll body 1 and the outer jacket 4 containing cooling tubes 2 and being filled with an electrically conducting metal 3. The conducting metal layer is introduced into the space between the roll body 1 and outer jacket 4 by casting under vacuum or a protective gas atmosphere, the roll body 1 and the jacket 4 being preheated to the casting temperature. <IMAGE>
