Abstract
Novel yellow couplers are provided for use in the processing of light-sensitive silver halide photographic materials, these couplers being alpha -acylacetanilides in which the phenyl ring is substituted by a sulphonamido or carbonamido group and the nitrogen atom is substituted by a monovalent atom other than a hydrogen or metal atom or a monovalent group. In all the exemplified couplers attachment of the sulphonamido or carbonamido groups to the phenyl ring is via their nitrogen atoms.
