Abstract

A drive unit for accumulation live roller conveyor utilizing frictional engagement of a radial surface eg a belt (23) provided on drive wheels (15) against the rollers (10). The drive unit includes multiple drive wheels (15) each functioning to rotate two rollers (10) simultaneously and each provided with a radial frictional drive surface (23) which engages the rollers. The drive wheels (15) are rotatably mounted in spaced and aligned relation on a support bar (18) and the support bar is arcuately pivotable on a frame (11, 21) supporting the rollers (10) towards the roller surfaces (13, 14) in order to selectively bring the radial drive wheel surfaces (23) into contact with the roller surfaces (13 or 14). <IMAGE>
