Abstract

In a continuous ring furnace for baking or rebaking carbonaceous articles comprising a plurality of chambers (10, 11) arranged in first and second rows of side-by-side chambers (10, 11) connected to each other by channels (14, 15) passing transversely below and connecting the bottom of each chamber (10, 11) to the fire pits (12C, 13C) of the successive chamber (10, 11), the two pairs of end chambers (10, 11) are connected by head channels (12, 13), having a U shape in top view, wherein said head channels (12, 13) comprise two different groups of channels the smoke channel leading from the bottom of the outer half relative to the longitudinal axis of the last chamber of each row of chambers (10, 11) leads to the fire pits (12C, 13C) corresponding to the inner half relative to the longitudinal axis of the adjacent chamber (10, 11) of the other row and the smoke channel (14, 15) leading from the inner half of the last chamber of each row leads to the fire pits (12C, 13C- Figs. 3 and 5) corresponding to the outer half of the last chamber (10, 11) of the other row. <IMAGE>
