Abstract

A dowel holder for roadway slabs (20) with transverse joints (22) comprises longitudinal and transverse rods (14, 16) to form a basket-like configuration, and arranged to support dowels (12) extending transversely to the joint and loosely movable in the platform (20), the transverse rods (14) of the basket-like configuration being flexible within the slab (20) in the vicinity of the joint (22), either by providing an expansion loop (38) or by notching the transverse rods in the vicinity of the joint so that the rod breaks on contraction of the concrete. <IMAGE>
