Abstract

A machine for working material has a disc-like rotary tool 2, such as a circular saw or an abrasive wheel, part of which extends above a bearer 1 for material. A top guard 6 for the rotary tool 2 is carried by two supports 4, 5 extending above the bearer 1 and aligned at respective position downstream of the tool 2. The portion of each support 4, 5 which can become positioned within the kerf has a thickness preferably not greater than the width of the kerf. Advantageously, the support 5 remote from the tool 1 is adjustable transversely, and may be shiftable transversely against the action of restoring means 19, 21. The support 4 nearer the tool 2 may be readily as conventionally provided on a saw- bench.The guard 6 may be readily manually adjusted relative the tool 1 by a twinbuckle bolt 10, 9 engaged through slots 7, 8 respectively in the support 4 and guard 6. <IMAGE>
