Abstract
An aircraft jet engine has an outlet guide duct (8) of rectangular cross-section and a plurality of flaps (31, 32, 33) movable into the path of the gas jet for deflecting it (S). The flaps define flow gaps between them. Side walls (20, 20') of the guide duct are at the ends of, and perpendicular to, the flaps. These side walls constitute an extension of the guide duct and mask the ends of the flaps in all their positions. One side wall can be formed by the fuselage (2). Each side wall includes a downstream portion which extends beyond the upper faces of the flaps when deflected. <IMAGE>
