Abstract

In a guide wheel for a hydrodynamic torque converter, the guide blades are each sub-divided into an inflow section (17) fixed in relation to the wheel and an adjustable downstream section (18) pivotable in relation to the inflow section. The inflow section may have a recess (22) accommodating the adjustable section and two bearing openings (20,21), extending radially with respect to the axis of the wheel, by which a shaft for adjusting the adjustable section is mounted. The wheel may have two separate, radially inner and outer, annular hub sections (25,31) abutting against each other at a joint plane (33-33) containing the axes of the adjusting shafts. These hub sections are arranged at a distance apart, radially in relation to the wheel axis, to accommodate a servo-piston (28) connected to the said shafts, the radially inner hub section having a flange (24), integral with the inflow section, for abutment by the radially outer hub section. The wheel may also have a recess accommodating the outer ring of a freewheel coupling (40), and a clutch (15) may be provided for direct coupling of the output shaft (14) to a driving flange (9). <IMAGE>
