Abstract

An expansible fastening device comprising a threaded member 1, an axially slotted sleeve 4 which is a sliding fit over the threaded member 1, and first and second spreader members 12, 8 for expanding the sleeve, the first spreader member 12 being so secured to the threaded member that it is locked to the threaded member during the expansion of the sleeve 4 by the first and second spreader members 12, 8, and the second spreader member 8 being a sliding fit over the threaded member 1 and being joined to the sleeve at 5. On installation, joint 5 is broken. Spreader member 12 may be a conical nut, or the head of bolt 1. <IMAGE>
