Abstract

A carrying and closure device for bags and sacks comprises an isosceles triangular frame (1) presenting a carrying bar (5) for the bag (13). A gripping bar (9) is supported from the frame by plastically deformable support arms (11). Before the device is put into use, the bar (9) is spaced from the bar (5). An open end portion (14) of a loaded bag is looped over the bar (9), across the top of the bar (5). Lifting the bag by the device permanently bends the support arms (11) so that the bag is gripped tightly between the arms (5 and 9), thus sealing the bag. The device is primarily intended for cement sacks loaded with 1 to 2 tonnes of cement. The arms (11) are preferably of iron and the frame and bars of steel. To open the sack, the bars are prised apart with a crowbar. <IMAGE>
