Abstract

The first disclosure relates to means for controlling insertion and rejection of a cassette 1, comprising a mechanism which moves a plate 13 towards a front position when the cassette reaches its recording or reproducing position. Pressing a button (29) on plate 13 ejects the cassette the movement of the cassette being braked to prevent complete ejection from the recorder. The mechanism includes a pair of vertically slidable guides 2 combined with a bar 3 perpendicular thereto against which the cassette presses when inserted. The bar 3 has pinions meshing with racks formed in sides 4 of the frame to control the movement of the cassette. Other disclosures relate to (1) the presence of a cassette causing the keys which otherwise would operate the radio to operate the recorder instead, (2) a capstan drive for the tape (Figures 16-19) and (3) a slip coupling for the take-up reel drive (Figures 20, 21). <IMAGE>
