Abstract

201,577. Wager, R. H. July 29, 1922, [Convention date]. Shaving-appliances; soapholders.-A lathermaking device for shaving purposes comprises a cylindrical receptacle 1 within which is a platform 3 supporting a cake of soap 2. The platform 3 is provided with ribs on its upper surface, and has a depending neck 5 which screws into the, end of an air passage 6 formed in the bottom of the receptacle 1. The neck 5 is formed with an air passage 7 and radial passages 8. The under side of the platform 3 is provided with radial curved ribs 9 which impart a whirling motion to the water in the receptacle when air is forced through the passages 6, 7, 8 by the hand bulb 10. A non-return valve 12 is provided. A series of inclined holes 11 in the platform 3 is uncovered when the soap is partly worn away, thus allowing the latter to be acted upon by jets of water and air. until completely used up. A filling cap is so disposed at one side of the container 1 that the latter cannot be overfilled. The top of the receptacle is closed by a screwed cap 20 provided with au outlet 21. Clamped between the cap 20 and the body 1 is a disc 22 with a depending flanger 23 and a central open. ing 33. A series of perforated discs 24, 28 and gauze screens 27, 30, 32, are held in position within the flange 23 by a spring ring, and the suds formed in the receptacle 1 are condensed to a. lather on being forced through the screens. The cap 20 has a central depending sleeve 35 with an opening 36 through which the lather passes, and a partition 37 forces it to travel round the interior of the cap through radial screens 38 to the outlet 21.
