Abstract

A workpiece processing system includes a central control unit 13 and several substantially identical processing stations 10. Each station has several movable units with position control circuits connected to the central unit. Specific control data are required for each type of workpiece to be processed which, with each change of the workpiece series must be read into a store in the central unit. To acquire and prepare the workpiece data rationally, a selected one of the workpiece stations is connected to a manually operated control unit which is also coupled to the central unit to activate an instruction program in a program store. A data recorder is controlled by an instruction program in the central unit to record, on a replaceable data recording medium, during or after manual operation of the selected station, processing data acquired in the position control circuits and from actual value transmitters at the selected station. <IMAGE>
