Abstract

A photoplastic film recording and read-out apparatus for selectively producing rippled image patterns in frame areas of such film by image patterned electrostatic charge and heat deformation, comprising a copy holding station 36, flood lights 47, 48 for lighting station 36, means for projecting an image from station 36 over a first optical path 50, 51, a support for indexably supporting photoplastic film in selectable frame positions at an image plane 52 normal to first optical path 50, 51, objective lens 53 disposed in the path between plane 52 and station 36 for focusing an optical image of copy, corona charger 61 for applying an electrostatic charge to the film before exposure, movable heat block 63 for developing the exposed film, a light source 54 located on the opposite side of said image plane from lens 53 for projecting the developed film onto a viewing screen 34 and rotating mirror 58 selectably operable to interrupt said first optical path and establish a second optical path extending in succession from said projection light source 54 through said image plane and lens 53 to viewing screen 34. <IMAGE>
