Abstract

A chain cutter comprising guide pieces (2) connected consecutively around the periphery of a cutter arm and of substantially H-shaped cross- section, each guide piece presenting an outwardly open U-shaped guide profile (9) which receives a circulating cutter-chain (5) and inwardly extending legs (10a, 10b) fastened to a guide-bearer (1) of the cutter arm. Each guide piece is divided continuously in the longitudinal direction so as to be formed by separate side pieces which are fastened onto the guide-bearer at an adjustable distance apart in the transverse direction, so that adjustment in the width of the guide profile can be made to allow for wear. <IMAGE>
