Abstract

A turntable drive for a record player comprises a direct current motor (2) and a regulating device (8) for controlling the motor speed. The motor (2) contains a stator with no more than two pairs of stator poles, and a rotor having only a few grooves or groove windings. The motor (2) drives the turntable (6) directly and to provide a uniform drive the motor (2) is designed such that the unregulated speed is approximately ten times the turntable speed or more. <IMAGE>
