Abstract

In continuous motion film scanning apparatus of the flying spot type for producing video signals each film frame is scanned at least twice, successive scans being interlaced vertically. In proper interlacing, e.g. due to film shrinkage, will be apparent in the displayed image. The apparatus disclosed is arranged to produce a correction voltage for adjusting the vertical shift of one of the scans relative to the other. To obtain this voltage the video signal is a sampled line-by-line during the first and second scans of a frame, and the samples for the second scan are compared 17-21 with two versions of the samples for the first scan obtained from delay lines 15 and 16, these versions being delayed by equal time periods, e.g. half a line period, more and less than a complete field period. Cyclic operation of a switch 10 selects the position of the samples in each line. <IMAGE>
