Abstract

Chromium or cobalt containing complexes of monoazo dyestuffs which, in the form of the free acids, are represented by the formula: <IMAGE> wherein A' and A'' each represent the same or different aromatic radicals; B' and B'' each represent the same or different residue of a coupling component which couples in ortho or vicinal position to D' and D'' respectively; Z' and Z'' which are attached to A' and A'' respectively in ortho positions to the azo group are the same or different and represent -O- or -COO-; D' and D'' are the same or different and represent -O- -NH-, -N-lower alkyl- or -N-phenyl; M is Cr or Co; and at least one of A', A'', B' and B'' bears one or more phosphonic acid groups and at least one of B' and B'' are of the pyridone series. The dyestuffs are useful for colouring cellulose in conjunction with fixation by heating with cyanamide or dicyandiamide.
