Abstract

A photoelectric exposure meter is in the form of a device for checking and selecting the correct exposure when using a graphic art camera. It is a hand-held unit the casing (1) of which can be placed on a transparent or translucent plate at the back of the camera and on to which the camera image is focussed. The back of the casing (1) has a viewing lens (3) through which a magnified target area of the image can be selected and viewed, this area being defined by index lines (5) on a transparent window (4) at the back of the casing (1). A probe (7) carrying a photoresistive cell is movable from a resting position clear of the target area to an operative position in which the cell is in the target area. An electrical circuit contains the cell and includes a potentiometer P1 the adjustment of which for a null indication by a moving coil meter M1 provides an indication of the intensity of illumination of the cell and hence of the target area. <IMAGE>
