Abstract
A fan assembly includes a body housing means for generating an airflow, such as an impeller and motor driving the impeller. A nozzle is mounted on the body for emitting the air flow. The nozzle defines an opening through which air from outside the fan assembly is drawn by the air emitted from the nozzle. A nozzle retaining mechanism 200 releasably retains the nozzle on the body. The mechanism is moveable from a first configuration in which the nozzle is retained on the body, to a second configuration in which the nozzle is released for removal from the body. The mechanism includes further retaining means 224, 226 to releasably retain the nozzle retaining mechanism in the second configuration. The nozzle may urge the further retaining means to release the nozzle retaining mechanism from the second configuration. A moveable catch 220 may be provided to retain the nozzle retaining mechanism in the second configuration.
