Abstract

A sink bowl surround 1 comprises a plate of a water resilient material, said plate including an inner lacuna corresponding to the outer dimension of the sink bowl 4. The surround may be contoured to be higher at the peripheral outer edge than at the inner edge adjacent the lacuna of the surround. The surround is preferably installed when the sink is fitted, and may be located with the inner edge adjacent the lacuna inserted beneath the sink. The material of the surround is preferably resiliently deformable. The surround seeks to protect the interface between the sink and the work surface into which the sink is installed, in order to prevent from water ingress and disfigurement of the work surface. The surround may comprise three components, including a waterproof plywood subframe 1A, an upper laminate 1 and peripheral rubber seal 2 as shown in Figure 2.
