Abstract
The invention relates to a surface mounted sink bowl cover fitted from a worktop surface side into any thickness of worktop surface using undermount sink bowls without the need for any fixing clips. A fixing solution is used to seal the bowl and also bond the surface mounted sink cover to the work surface in a watertight manner. By using the sink bowl cover there is no need to cut a hole for the drainer in the work surface as with a standard sink. In turn the system allows for simple installation.
Description
Surface Mounted Sink Cover Specification
This invention relates to a surface mounted sink bowl cover and unique installation method.
The traditional way to fit a sink involves cutting out a large cut hole to house the sink and a very awkward procedure to tighten the fixing clips from inside a cupboard space to clamp into required position, the cutting of a large hole for a standard sink can vastly weaken the worktop and can also mean cutting across worktop joints and also cutting into units which are located below the sink bowl cutting area, you are also working blind and in a very confmed area when inside the cupboard to tightening the clips to secure sink to worktop, and you may have to make adjustments during the securing process to ensure correct alignment. When heavy taps are fitted to sink top this can lead to movement of unit due to surface thickness of steel, this would lead to strengthening brackets being required.
The present invention proposes that a standard undermount sink can be fitted form the worktop surface and covered with the surface mounted sink cover without the need for any clips. This is then secured into position using a very clean application of fixing solution to seal the bowl and also bond the surface mounted sink cover to the works surface in the exact position required leaving sink cover and bowl completely sealed and watertight. l'his system also means that you only cut the bole for the sink bowl and waste and not the full cut out for the drainer as with a standard sink. In turn this allows for very simple installation and means there is a minimum disruption to worktop joints and cupboards beneath the work surface. Other advantages are as follows: - * Variety of sizes can be offered.
* The sink cover can be manufactured from a wide variety of materials including, glass, swanstone, polycarbonate as examples.
* Can be applied to many undermount sink makes and styles.
* Can fit to any thickness of worktop.
* Multiply combinations of bowl positions can be created using this system.
* Vastly reduced packaging and storage facilities.
* Universal handing of sink covers.
* Chopping board is made form sink bowl cut out to minimise wastage of material during manufacturing.
* Solid fixing area for heavy taps.
The invention is now described by the way of example and has reference to the accompanying 5 drawings in which: Page 1/5 shows the simple installation of product to work surface.
