Abstract

A lay boy for a cross-cutter has a platform 3 which can be raised and lowered at the point where the sheets are stacked. The platform is provided with a roller conveyor 3d which in use supports a pallet 8 which becomes laden with the sheets 7 being stacked. The underside of the pallet has sliding battens 8a which extend at right- angles to the rollers. The platform comprises a turn-table 3b rotatable about a vertical axis 3c on an undercarriage 3a. The roller bed 9 is located at a distance from the stacking point which is at least equal to the length of the platform 3. A similar platform 4 may be provided for use when the platform 3 has moved with a stack into a position adjacent the roller bed 9. <IMAGE>
