Abstract

High speed yarn winding apparatus comprising a high speed winder 42 for operation in conjunction with a positive feed supply source 14, 26, a device 48 for sensing the tension in the yarn supplied by the source prior to its reaching the winder 42, so as to provide a signal for automatically adjusting the relative speeds of the supply source and the winder to compensate for tension variations, and a forwarding roller 34 situated downstream of the tension sensing device driven at a surface speed greater than that of the yarn so as to forward the yarn as a result of slipping contact with it, thus reducing the tension in the yarn downstream of the forwarding roller. <IMAGE>
