Abstract
Process for the production of modified starches wherein a starch slurry is centrifuged, the resulting cake is then diluted and submitted to chemical modification, modified starch slurry is then centrifuged, and the filtrate is recycled back to the dilution tank whereby it is used to dilute reactants thus avoiding the elimination of waste waters. Installation for the above process comprising a first centrifuge dryer connected to a supply means for feeding with a starch slurry, a cake output means connected to a dilution tank placed in series with a mixer having means for introducing chemical reagents, optionally a heater, a reaction tank, a second centrifuge, and means for conducting the filtrate from the second centrifuge to the dilution tank.
