Abstract

The composition consists, by wt, of: 35-70% chlorinated hydrocarbon base solvent,e.g. 1,1,1- trichloroethane or CH2Cl2 3-25% organic resin binder, e.g. phenolic estergum 2-10% modified montmorillonite gellant 1-50% pigment, e.g. rutile, ZnO, or lithopone 1-50% pigment extender, e.g. CaCO3. A dyestuff or coloured pigment is optionally present. Drying speed <2 sec at </=175 DEG C. Use: marking steel billets on which defects have been identified.
