Abstract

A rock drill bit has a tip 8, cutting wings 3 extending radially from the tip and disposed at a lower level than the tip, an annular recess 2 between the tip and the cutting wings, centrally disposed hard metal pins 6 on the tip, hard metal pins 4, 4' on the cutting wings which are inclined to the axis of the drill, further cutting pins 5, 5' on the cutting surface of the recess, and bevels on the surfaces of the cutting wings remote from the direction of drilling. The bit has four wings, and the tip and wing surfaces lie in a projected cone of 60 DEG inclined angle. The pins 5, 5' are eccentrically positioned. <IMAGE>
