Abstract

A drainage water treatment apparatus comprises a water treatment chamber which includes a water inlet for receiving water to be treated, followed by a filtration stage for receiving water from the water inlet and comprising a limestone water filtering medium. After filtration, the water is subjected to a metals treatment stage. The metals treatment stage includes a water filtering medium comprising moss or peat for removing metals from water filtered therethrough. A water outlet is provided for outputting treated water from the metals treatment stage. Preferably, the filtration stage comprises separate baskets containing the limestone, whilst the metals treatment stage can comprise separate baskets containing the moss or peat. A debris removal filter stage may be utilised between the water inlet and the filtration stage. In another aspect, a road run-off water treatment apparatus comprises the drainage water treatment apparatus.
