Abstract

A method and apparatus for processing feedstock such as vermiculite or oil-contaminated drill cuttings using microwaves is described. The method involves removing ferrous material from the feedstock by magnetic separation before exposing the feedstock to microwaves. This reduces arcing in the microwave cavity.
