Abstract
For each of a plurality of different time-steps in a time period, a mark is projected onto a surface in the form of a laser dot. For a first portion of the time period, a first sensor, generates a first image or image sequence of the surface with at least a portion of each of the projected marks in that image or sequence and for a second portion of the time period, a second sensor, generates a second image or image sequence of the surface with at least a portion of each of the projected marks in that image or sequence. A process that is dependent upon the respective positions of the mark in the first image or image sequence and the second image or image sequence is then performed, namely the time alignment of the image sequences to temporally align the images sequences or registering the two image sequences. The different time steps may be selected by a pseudo random sequence. The sensors may be of different types e.g. UV, Infra-red, visible light and may be mounted in an aircraft.
