Abstract

Apparatus comprises a communications system, particularly as social networking system, configured to allow a user to communicate with a remote content provider and to receive content therefrom, content being associated at the content provider with at least one of plural entities such as people or businesses or categories; a user settings system 134/140 configured to enable a user manually to set a relevance setting for each of the plural entities or categories, and to store the relevance settings; a user interaction system 136/138 configured to receive user activity data, the user activity data relating to interaction of a user with the plural entities or categories or content relating to the plural entities or categories; and a relevance calculating system 142 configured to use the user activity data and the manually set relevance setting automatically to calculate a system-calculated relevance setting.
