Abstract

A kit 1 for measuring the equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) of a test sample comprises an enclosed test chamber 2; a temperature and %ERH sensor 4 located internally at one end of the test chamber; and open-ended container 5 for receiving the test sample removably attached to the opposite end of the test chamber; and, a means of recording the ERH 6. The temperature and %ERH sensor faces the open-end of the container and the open-end of the container is sealed with a water permeable membrane. The water permeable membrane allows flowable test samples, such as powders or viscous liquids, or potentially contaminating samples, to be tested. The test sample may be maintained in situ for ERH measurement and exposed/re exposed to different conditions as often as desired and re-tested for ERH each time. The kit is particularly suitable for testing drug active substances, cosmetic, agrochemical or pharmaceutical materials.
