Abstract

This combination comprises a swing door 2 mounted to open in both directions by turning about a vertical axis 3 in a fixed frame 1. Mounted on the frame 1 is a door-closer 4 with a vertical spindle 5 carrying an arm 6 provided with a slide element 7. During normal opening of the door 2 the element 7 slides in a guide rail 8 mounted on the door 2. The guide rail 8 comprises a strip 9 of L-section secured to the door 2 and a strip 10 of L-section pivoted at 11 to the strip 9. Usually the strips 9 and 10 are held together by releasable detent means, but in case of emergency the door 2 can be opened, contrary to the normal way, in the direction of the arrow B and then the arm 6 strikes the frame 1 and the detent means allows the strip 10 to swing and clear the slide element 7. Various forms of detent means, guide rails and kinematic inversions are described. <IMAGE>
