Abstract

The process for the preparation of octahydropyrrolo [1,2-a] pyrazine comprises reducing 3,4-dihydropyrrolo [1,2-a] pyrazine by catalytic hydrogenation at 100-180 DEG C at a pressure of 100- 180 atm in the presence of a nickel, platinum of paralladium catalyst to obtain a reaction mixture containing the end product, with subsequent isolation thereof. The process may be carried out on a commercial scale. The yield of octahydropyrrolo [1,2-a] pyrazine is up to 82%.
