Abstract

A rope tensioning device comprises a pair of blocks 111, 137 each carrying a plurality of pulleys and being joined by a rigid guide track 122 with respect to which a first 111 of the two blocks is slidable and the other 137 is fixed; the first slide block 111 carries an attachment cleat 125 or other device by means of which a rope to be tensioned can be attached thereto and also has an attachment point for receiving one end of a tensioning line which passes over all the pulleys to form a block and tackle arrangement. The free end of the line is cleated to retain the tension in the rope being tensioned. <IMAGE>
